The Lightnings advance The Lightning commander waited for his back up infantry to arrive but advanced in the mean time. The Calliopes did a fine job of shooting down missiles until the Zaporoskiye started rapid firing their missile launchers and re-targeting their missile loads on to the calliopes themselves rather than the heavy blowers, to degrade their defence. The Blowers kept shredding the buzzbomb attacks while firing back into the ruins and suppressing the infantry. Although they failed to directly kill any of the infantry who were very well protected by the ruins, they did succeed in eventually making two Zaporoskiye units (including the sniper they eventually discovered on turn five) to flee after huge volumes of fire directed at them. By turn five the Lightning infantry arrived and proceeded to mortar the Zaporoskiye but mounting losses on both sides forced the later - as well as the Tank detachment of the Lightnings - to take a morale test, and both of the detachments passed. The fight continued! The Lightnings lost first one and then the second Calliope to missile fire but the Zaporoskiye had to come out into the open after losing their sniper designator. Lightning blowers crippled the Mammont after several hits (it had the tracks blown off) but, by then, it wasn’t going anywhere and had effectively become a very unpleasant pill box and - with its twin guns of equal power to the Lightning blowers - it took out two tanks.
