Conclusion It was an interesting exercise. As the attackers, the Lightnings had to make the running and always struggled with having enough Leadership to do everything they wanted to, whereas Orlyk was a better commander and often had points to spare. The Lightnings also suffered with some bad luck: it took four turns for the second detachment to arrive and it took a long time to spot the sniper hidden in the rubble, all of which meant that they took a lot of missiles from protected vehicles. Not that - initially - many of them hit home: we used my new casino dice so we could feel happy that our bad dice throws were entirely due to luck rather than cranky dice... and I certainly bowled a lot of double ones... The game showed that command - and in-game leadership (not by Tony and I but by the commanders on the table) - is vitally important. The use of a sniper and the employment of elite skills were also an interesting and valuable addition to the forces: without the Anti-ATGW Enhanced Data Link, the Lightnings would have suffered far worse. Many thanks to Tony Francis for the game. I’m looking forward to the next one! John T
