Setting up the game Tony Francis and I have been working on a revamp of the Han Chinese forces for the Slammerverse. Early on we decided to expand them into two different troop types: the Han Chinese Black Banner Brigade (as touched on briefly in the basic rules) and the Han Regular Army. The latter will be trained forces (15TUs to a detachment) and the Black Banner will be their highly experienced and trained forces and so will be Veterans (10TUs). Moving forward, we wanted to do a couple of things differently. Firstly we wanted new and - more importantly - bespoke vehicles and troopls for the Han Chinese forces and so Tony got to work with some digital sculpts that we have worked through to more closely represent the (few) vehicles that Dave Drake acually described. Additionally - and especially if we were to extend the build to regular army forces - we needed a few more ‘less cutting edge’ vehicles (trucks, officer’s trikes... that sort of thing). I wanted to give them some unique weapons witout having to add any supplements and so forth and so (reflecting on the current Chinese desire to take western technology and adapt it, along with their current penchant for research in Hypersonics) the Chinese now get heavier hypersonic missiles that work in a slightly different way; advanced lasers and quite advanced and compact electronics. To try some of these concepts out, weset up a game with Tony’s existing Alaudae (post 347) forces as they had lasers themselves, along with many other weapin types and... well they hadn’t had any action for a while!
