The Game is afootThe Han were distributed around the space port. I didn’t do too much ‘hiding in buildings’ as I wanted to test out weapons rather than ‘win’ scenarios. I’d rather miscalculated with the forces, mind you: The Alaudae unit that Tony (freely) chose was the Heavy Armoured Detachment. Infantrycomponent: zero... It just meant that several of my infantry units were fairly powerless against the heavy French armour. Mind you, I did have one TU of infantry buzzbombs...Tony’s forces came in at one end of the table and Colonel Bai (LV12 and an Inspirational Leader) managed to get the drop of them for initiative. The Heavy Focused lasers of the Han tanks, along with massed missiles from the APCs and a strike from the Buzzbombs did a lot of damage in the first turn to the Alaudae who lost two or three vehicles as a result which was a pit of a shock for Tony but he recovered and ground on towards his objective. The Chan started loosing vehicles: the armour of the tank detroyers wasn’t bad (a 10 on the front) but the reality is that they were over matched by the Alaudae MBTs and tank destroyers (with frontal armour of 11 or 12). The new Chinese heavy Hypersonics worked well, especially fighting deep down the table: unlike the standard light hypersonics that accelerate quickly, they actually get a greater FP the further away the target is (as they speed up) and with augmented chances to hit (+1) when using a Spiper pod. They also used their especially cooled lasers to great effect with Laser Burn through without the concern of bolowing their barrels and all.
