New LeadershipIn 327 TW Coirnéal Éamon O'Higgins (son of Maolán O’Higgins) took control of the force after his fathers ‘retirement’. He is an inspirational leader and is well respected by the troops he leads. He also decided to uprate the vehicles and equipment that his troops were carrying or using. Most of the revised Regiment-sized formation is made up of mechanised units trained rather more in police actions or defensive scenarios than had been the case under Éamon O'Higgins’ father. Because they are generally not deployed directly to the front line, the pay rates are commensurately lower than in other outfits who are often at the sharp end of a conflict. The quality of the troops is, perhaps, reflected in their behaviour (which had been an issue in the past: one company had to be completely disbanded at the orders of the Bonding Authority following a breakdown of discipline while on furlough) but has improved under Coirnéal Éamon O'Higgins’ ‘tough but fair’ discipline regime.Cannon:
