Joy of Six: Slammers attack the Hashemites
RESULTS The Guardforce flyers got in close to the Stewarts – too close for their useful infantry AT grenade launchers to take effect – and, although not heavily armed, did great damage to the Stewart’s APCs and infantry. This left just their Apollo tanks and a couple of APCs remaining (having already had their Mortar and AT guns wrecked by direct fire from Guardforce ECAP weapons and counter battery fire from Artillery and Hashemite mortars. The UDB broke through the berm tunnel and did great damage with massed calliope fire trained on the lighter Hashemites but there were just too many of them for one detachment to overcome and – when the Lightning Division arrived to back them up – the Hashemites wiped them out. The Slammers made it through and over the berm and did terrible damage to their opponents. They always had lots of LPs and spent them on furious rushed and rapid firing their weapons. In the first attack on the Guardforce the Slammers Blowers took out seven vehicles including all of the light tanks with the fearsome ECAPS. But there were just too few... The Slammers had already lost all of their hogs – and one blower – to artillery fire and two uparmoured blowers with three combat cars (and even three jeeps) was just not enough: they were about to be surrounded.
