Attack on Linton

Slammers come under heavy fireThe Solace used some mortars to shell the forces coming on at the east end of the table with little success. Meanwhile, the best of the Solace forces – the Veterans with the better vehicles – attacked from the Residential Compound towards the Slammers coming in from the east and did some damage, taking out a couple of cars. They didn’t last long, mind you...By turn Four and five the Slammers had set the aerial ablaze which mitigated some of the jamming meaning that they could at least identify their target: the HQ building. The wolverines popped out from their hiding places (mostly in the main Compound area) and started taking out AFVs – cars and even a tank – with missiles and AT guns but generally took heavy losses and had a unit withdraw. At the west end of the table the Solace forces survived a morale check (astonishingly) and some militia teams made a frantic attack in two flying vans at a blower tank (and were chopped to pieces by the defence strips). Some others fired out of the Station building’s upper floors and took out some more infantry on skimmers but the Slammers just set the building alight killing them and a few others. Things were getting desperate for the defenders...Using a huge pile of LPs the Solace regulars made a couple of wave attacks on the advancing Slammers that had reached the junction west of the Research Lab but it s all bluster and fury: despite a hail of fire, the total losses were a tribarrel taken off of the roof of a blower. Big whoop!
