THE CRUCIBLE RULES SYSTEM HANDBOOK
New Ukrainian Army in 15mm
CMG on Coccium produced several vehicles on just
a couple of common chassis which appealed to
Orlyk for two reasons - cost (via commonality of
parts) and familiarity: his crews were well versed
in working on and maintaining tracked vehicles. All
of the newest CMG vehicles use small fusion power
plants (though not as compact as the Westal AE7s,
as fitted to Slammer’s Blowers).
These generators provide constant electrical power
which - in addition to the drive sprocket - is used
to drive all the AFVs road wheels, each of which has individual electromagnetic suspension that floats the fighting
compartment independently of the transmission for a very smooth, effective system. Because each wheel is driven
independently, the rear toothed drive wheel is only in place for extra traction: if the vehicle sheds an entire track, all
the wheels can still power the vehicle forward, though with rather less grip and greater ground pressure.
Armour
Armour on the vehicles is both passive and active. The active system
includes the advanced Drodz 6 with launchers mounted vehicle
turrets plus reactive armour laid in sheets over the passive armour,
itself a composite comprised (amongst other things) of a sapphire
and ceramic matrix faced with hardened steel. The vehicles are fitted
with an advanced AI system aiding both attack and defensive
workloads on the crew (which on the Molot and Xaoc is only three:
commander/gunner, driver and defensive specialist).
Armour was specified in an attempt to match the armour resistance
of the cast iridium hulls of Icarus industries Blower tanks. This has
resulted, however, in very large, slab sided vehicles with an armour
thickness of almost two metres on the turret front and glacis of the
Molot.
