Club-night Training game
I offered to run a training game for members of the London SELWG club who wanted to try out the rules so - with the help of Kevin Dallimore - I ran a game aimed at those with no experience of the system (but lots of experience of wargaming!).The scenario: hold the townIt was a simple idea: the two new players (Geoff Hanney and Brian Butler) ran a troop each from what could be termed a Transitional period: around the 345TW period when older Slammers troops were mixing with newer up-armoured AFVs. So M9A1-3 Combat Cars, M9A7s, and M2A4 tanks with M2A4UA. These were using this play sheet.A fairly simple table was set up with a road leading into town running along side the monorail. The road though a desert area was lined with various ‘low rent’ buildings and industrial units and speckled with shallow lakes (fish farms was my theory...) and the town - occupied by just nine AFVs and no infantry to keep it simple (four blower tanks, four combat cars - all of mixed modernity - and a jeep) was held by Alois and the boys.Attacking them were two whole detachments (a Strike and a Heavy Assault) of the Zaporoskiye Brigade.
