John Treadaway - January 2014
Fiona bowls leadership points for the Combat Car Troop The Slammers lose a Blower to infantry fire from the high-rise building Carnage for the Yeomanry Combat Cars peel off to attack fresh targets Slammers Command car keeps out of harms way
But all was not lost. The remaining three teams fired everything else they had at the top deck of the blower parked directly beneath them. The support laser - great for hosing down infantry - just bounced off of the iridium hull, but the infantry conebores have superior penetration even to infantry powerguns and were capable - just - of penetration. Massed fire hit the big target and something vital was hit and got through a grill or an intake and the tank blew catastrophically. But this was the West Riding’s last hurrah. The last unit to have initiative was the Slammers Combat Car Troop and they swept into town from a different direction. They took out a remaining APC or two from the WRY forces and used two cars to sweep fire into the building that Lt Cain and his men were hiding in. One car used all its tribarrels to try and pick off targets in the windows and - although they had trouble getting a kill (troopers in full hard armour in a concrete building) they poured in enough fire and hit enough times that - eventually - the TU was rendered ineffective via suppression. With the other car, they took a different approach and blew up the floor of the building that the infantry were hidden in, burning the troops out and killing them.  At the end of an hour, the Slammers had lost a blower and had a badly damaged one and the WRY took a morale test through loss of units (including their commander) and failed. A victory for the Slammers, then, in a pretty unfair fight: just how Alois’ boys - and girls - like it! John Treadaway
