Transportation and light support is afforded by the Franciscan Rapide 4x4
(and 6x6) family of vehicles. These can be equipped in a variety of ways
including heavy support weapons, ATGWs and 2cm autocannons although
- in the latter two variants - they forego the space to carry infantry. The
variant with the HSW allows the infantry space to fire from the vehicle
and the 6x6 variant allows up to eight infantry in its extended wheelbase.
Trained Regular infantry - as opposed to the more effective veterans who
form part of the Desert Dragons Combat Group (with support from off
planet mercenaries - the Slammers) - tend to use the Buffel APC and the
Hippo open truck variant of the Widerbeest hull. This has the advantage of being able to carry a lot of troops - up
to 16 comfortably in the rear - but the disadvantage that they are not under armour.
Finally, some of the veteran Light Scouts travel on horseback. They tend to deploy to fight as firing weapons of any
calibre tends to worry the horses (and the horse mounted scouts only carry the standard flechette rifles) butt he
extra mobility afforded these troops by their mounts is put to good use.
