Support Vehicles On the same hull as the Shamont, the Legion also have a new dedicated AAA system and a heavy ATGW system - the Mosquito II air defence vehicle and the Damselfly II anti-tank missile tank. The latter has three advantages over the original Damselfly: firstly it's mounted on a medium tank hull rather than an APC hull. This affords it greater battlefield survivability while being just as nimble as the previous AFV. Secondly it has a greater rate of fire with a larger supply of more compact missiles, the Brumbar 3CX. Lastly it benefits from Enhanced Data Links meaning any unit can passively act as a forward observer for its ATGWs. This greatly increases its flexibility on the battlefield. The Mosquito II uses enhanced laser systems in its dedicated AAA application meaning it can use very rapid firing pulsed lasers giving phenomenal 'knock down' when applied to multiple incoming artillery rounds, or - with its Anti- ATGW Enhanced Data Link - offering defence capability for any vehicle in the force (of which it has line of site) that is targeted by an ATGW. All AFVs within a Legion force on this period can share this ability but the Mosquito II - with its fast firing lasers - is exemplary in this role. As the Mosquito uses similar advanced systems to other laser armed AFVs in the Alaudae, it can - at a pinch - over run its lasers to concentrate fire and improve penetration although, whenever this is done (either in the field or in tests) it almost invariably results in the fusion generators overheating and going off line for a considerable period, rendering the gun useless…. One final AFV upgrade that came into effect in the early 340s has been the Dragonfly APC which has been replaced with an imported Baumann range of vehicles. Attempts were made to find a suitable vehicle for several years but Dark eventually sources new replacement vehicles from Texia.  The Baumann is slightly heavier armoured than its Dragonfly forebear but has other changes: an ACV, this vehicle - in all variants - features a smaller troop compartment than the Dragonfly but a better weapon system. It features either a rapid firing laser turret with a light ATGW launcher box or a dedicated anti-tank version with a more rapid fire ATGW system but no secondary weapon. An AAA air defence variant is being trialled but - as of 347TW - has not yet been adopted.
