THE SHOW In June 2024 – with the help of friends Kevin Dallimore and Peter Merritt – I took a Slammers 15mm game to the Broadside Wargames show. I had some new scenery and the new edition of the Crucible rules and I realised that I hadn’t done a show game for a number of years. And it was about time! SCENERY The new scenery that hadn’t been at previous shows included the Zocalo Hotel (or ‘Fan Tower’) made from a large floor fan; the huts complex (built from 1/32 scale Britain’s pig pens with doors added from GZG metal castings); the Space City Tower (a 3d print which – thanks to a miniature turntable – rotated, as per the original on Fireball XL5 and which goes well, thematically, with my Marineville building). I also had my new Pumping Station (the hard drive case from my old TV Digibox plus Sweetex containers); a new solar powered greenhouse (made from a defunct solar light – and which goes with my older greenhouses made from bulkhead lamps); and my power station (made from a Lazertag Starbase: a toy from 30 years ago). They were accompanied by my older scenic items – model railway and 4Ground MDF buildings – along with cloths from various manufacturers and some roads by DeepCut Studios.
