Broadside: Slammers defend a starbase
DENOUEMENT When the last Slammers detachment turned up on one table side they barely managed to get on the table. They took out some more Thunderbolts but just not enough. By then the remaining Slammers on the table (mostly infantry with two remaining combat cars which had formed into an ad hoc detachment) fought hard but the arriving detachment were targeted in the same way their colleagues had been. Slick got a kill in but was pummelled. They took the skirts off of his blower (even after he tried a luck roll to stop them) and then – when he was immobile – they hit him with an MLRS. It was ‘game over’ for Slick and – actually – the entire Slammers force. At an easy pace, talking with member of the public and stopping for lunch and photography the game lasted about four hours, spread over about six hours of the actual show.
