Broadside: Slammers defend a starbase
FINALLY It was a great game: the Slammers got their arses handed to them (which is always a laugh!) and – though they’d taken a lot of casualties – the Thunderbolts and Stewarts were victorious. The attacking forces had used their weapon systems – especially the Thunderbolt Legion – to their advantage: on a big enough table (as you can see from the shots it was about twelve feet long by six feet wide) they could use their heavy MLRS well and the Slammers didn’t get the chance to use their hogs to counter them. And missiles – with a Sniper pod – are a bitch, even if you have counter measures. The Thunderbolts saturated one blower at a time, picking off the ones that were isolated from their team mates (and their supporting tribarrel firepower). Well that’s a real world lesson right there! Thanks to the host club running the day (Milton Hundred Wargames Club), the people who came up during the day to chat, and Kevin and Peter.
