The Game Ends... But – despite his losses (his commander’s tank at one point) – Tony moved his tanks down the road at speed (using – at various times – Follow Me, Gun Your Engines and Thunder Run optional rules to press on). He also swept up one flank using the light vehicles and jeeps and the other with the veteran infantry in the tracked carriers (one of which he lost to missile fire with all its passengers). But – despite the Thunderbolts jumping out from cover and rapid firing buzzbombs and another infantry unit firing down on a tank from a balcony with a support machine gun and taking out a tank (that’ll teach them to advance with the hatches open!) they eventually lost all of their Br66 tank destroyers with the last going down to a Hornet (with a big gun!). The Finale. Astonishingly the Thunderbolts – despite losses – didn’t succumb to a morale roll but – after the second Ukrainian vehicle was parked outside the Zocalo (a tank having already stood at the doors of Marineville for a turn) I resigned: when all you have left is a mortar team and a Br58SM Dragoon 2 Schlepper (try shooting a vehicle up the backside when it has a big bulldozer blade why don’t ya!) it’s time to quit. We had a fun game – despite the new lockdown just swinging into play – and the play sheet for the New Ukrainian Planetary defence force will be available very soon! John Treadaway 2020
