Alternative Lightning Division vehicles from those in The Crucible
The Lightning Division post 340TW
Anti-Air and Anti-Artillery for the
Division are both handled by the
M9A16 - a flatbed Combat Car
style vehicle with a manned
calliope turret. The Division
initially experimented with a
multiple 2cm tri-barrel mount
(up to eight tri-barrels being
tried) but finally settled on the
more powerful arrangement of
four 3cm powerguns (the only
use of powerguns by the
Lightnings).
This is more effective against its intended primary targets - artillery
rounds - but less effective against ground armour. In consequence,
older 'Hurrikans' and 'Werbelwinds' are still to be found in static
positions or in support of less mobile units.
