New Ukrainian Army: The Zaporoyskiye Regiment in 15mm
The Groza (Thunderstorm) artillery piece in green primer with camo applied
We wanted to ensure that people using other forces in 15mm could still get some ‘Slammers’ action using Hammer’s Slammers: The Crucible. To that end the very helpful chaps at Critical Mass Games were contacted and they offered some of their new vehicles from their (appropriately named) Mercenary range. In the Crucible it is stated that the Zaporoskiye Brigade retired in 352TW, and the New Ukrainian Army (NUA) was formed with the now vastly experienced Zaporoskiyes forming their elite backbone. Read more about this here. So new tracked vehicles were needed as models to represent a force that, timeline wise, was on a par with the Friesland Defence Force  (the final incarnation of Colonel - now President - Hammer’s Slammers). The large CMG vehicles fitted the bill and Critical Mass kindly sent some samples. These are painted up and the following pages show the results. Infantry are to follow (from Rebel Miniatures) and - if you want to play this force - a Big Detachment Card for 15mm is now in place. It covers two detachments and may be used as an adjunct to a 15mm Zaporoskiye Brigade  force for more detachments if you already have one. Painting After the toys were cleaned and had their moulding lugs cut off, they were assembled with super glue, sprayed with Army Painter Army Green primer and hand painted with Skeleton Bone and Uniform Grey, also from the Army Painter range.
