Final dirt and varnish
The penultimate requirement is to protect the decals with some
more Future. I slopped on some clear polish but added a little more
tinted wash where needed (mostly to take the ‘new’ edge off of the
decals).
Next was a couple of coats of Testors DulKote spray varnish from a
can: lots of shaking and lots of ventilation. The last stage was to add
elements that work best when the result is less dead flat than the
Testors (at its best) will provide.
The scrapes are done in gunmetal and sterling silver, both from the Army Painter range and their unvarnished
state just allows a little more shine. Gunmetal was stippled and drybrushed onto the plenum and edges hit in
silver.
