Thunderbolts Assemble

Moving on Ever since the Thunderbolts were recreated (as models) in their advanced form some four years ago, it’s been my ambition to build a unit. I’d built some in 28mm almost a decade ago and - now that my attention was on 1/100th - I wanted to recreate some of that ‘half track’ mojo that I’d so enjoyed! Brigade now make four vehicles that - with turret variations - cover all of the Thunderbolt options. Primarily these are the large Scania Half-Track in five variants; the smaller Viking Half-Track in two variants. Brigade also make the Varningr trailer with several variants and the Centurion 800 support vehicle. They also make the infantry with their support weapons and the decals. So what are you wating for! Wheels... I started by assembling and then spraying wheels. The double axle front wheels on the heavier and larger late model half tracks need sticking together and the Centurion uses the same wheel (eight of them with a single spare). The smaller Vikings have single front wheels and then there’s the trailers wheels and.. well, that’s a lot of wheels. They were sprayed with grey primerand then washed with Army Painter Dark Tone wash to give them some depth and pre-darken them, even though - when assembled - I’d planned to wash the whole vehicle later on. The vehicles were sprayed with Army Painter Skeleton Bone coloured primer.
