Our Game/cont Although they entered in the northwest corner and only had the Slammers Command Cars in their immediate vicinity, they shot some of those up with brutality and used their secondary weapons (turret mounted MGs) to destroy the Slammers skimmer-mounted infantry. Two more things then happened: The Slammers lost a blower to massed missile fire from the last Commando detachment, designated by their now deployed sniper. Sure the Slammers spotted the sniper and – in the next turn – blew up the shed he was hiding in thereby removing the threat, but the result was that the Slammers had still lost their best tank to laser guided ATGWs which entered through the thinner top armour. In the same turn, the Slammers also set off charges on the bridge but bowled a 2 on a d3: the result was an incomplete explosion! More LPs would need to be spent and the charges would have to be detonated again but – as Henry had emptied his ‘Leadership pot’ – that would have to wait until the next turn. This was a mixed blessing for Henry: if he’d been successful he would have trapped his two blowers on the far side of the bridge but he would still have won the scenario. However, the half-cocked detonation had at least weakened the bridge, making it easier to blow with a renewed attempt which would enable him to withdraw his tanks to safety. But there was a fly in the ointment...
