Hades I and Hades II Tank Destroyers
These were the ones that bothered me most. The picture in Hammers Slammers - The
Crucible shows a turtle shaped tank destroyer, and this was my attempt to copy that.
I took the hulls from the German (ONESS) Thor MBT, that I had got the Panthère gun barrels
from, and then had to decide how to show the difference between the Mark I and Mark II.
Now according to the book the Mark II has a BIGGER gun, calibre wise. After a quick
rummage through the spares box I found some suitable GZG barrels, and fortunately there
were 2 of each! Each barrel had a square section at it base, so using the trusted method of guesswork, I cut this at an angle I thought
would give a flush fit to the front of the hull. A bit of judicious filing later and I got what I was looking for, so it was dutifully stuck to the
front of the hull, as centrally as my old eyes would let me.
After doing this to all four vehicles I filled the remaining gaps with green stuff, but tried to make it look like a sleeve of material that
allowed the gun to elevate. Okay these now needed support weapons, so: back to the spares box. I found four Old Crow 6mm Single
Gun Turrets (C6203) that would do. Again I had to drill a hole in the hull and the bottom of the turret, after filing of the original fitting, and
these were placed in slightly different positions to help show the difference. That's them finished, next:
Épée APC
Again these looked so much like the pictures in the book, they were made straight out of the box. I
made a bit of a mistake here, but left it as it looked good. I cut a GZG Missile Turret in half and
glued each half to a turret for the ATGW weapon. Then I found out they don't have them, still I like
them.
Épée Command APC
All I used here was the hull. The over sized dish and the other bits on the top came from the spares
box, were they were left over from my Apex Dragoons Command Vehicle. They are both from Roof
Fitting Pack A and Pack B from GZG (sorry cannot remember the part number, but you can find the
in the Building Fittings section). These were the vent unit which was simply glued directly to the roof
of the APC. Next page.
