Division Légère in 15mm - by Jim Clark
Building the vehicles
Épée Command APC continued
For the large communications dish on the Épée Command APC I drilled out the appropriate spot on
the roof to fit the dish mount. This required a 1mm hole through and into the hull, fitted with a pin to
the base of the dish so the it was more secure, but could be taken off to fit in the transport box. The
small dish was treated in the same way, but usually gets left on the vehicle for transportation. The
support weapon was a spare originally from an Old Crow model, the Trojan I think. I drilled a 1mm
hole in both the support weapon and the hull to fit it in position.
Porc-epic Mixed Calliope
Took a bit of thinking with this one. I had two hulls left over from German (ONESS) Thor MBT, so these were used as the base of the
vehicle. As these had a mixed armament of guns and missiles I had a rummage through the spares box and found two Old Crow Multi-
missile turrets and 4 Gatling guns, that would do.
So I cut back one of the missile boxes: the top one (as it would be on the turret), making sure I did the correct one on each pair. I then
cleaned this up, drilled out a large enough hole to take the Gatling guns, and dully stuck these in. I now had a problem with the hole in
the hull, it was too big, so I cut some brass tube to length and stuck this into the original hole, and filled the gap with green stuff.
I then fitted the turret with a piece of brass rod that fitted tightly into the tube: sorted! I also fitted a GZG radar dish to the middle of each
turret, by drilling out and just sticking it in.
Cochon 21cm Artillery
This is really an ongoing project having seen a picture on the Hammers Website, as I'm still waiting for some Provider Transports from
Old Crow which I ordered a couple of months ago. Anyway I'd ordered some RAMA Turrets from GZG which had arrived, but I didn't
want to use them straight from the box. I took the gun assembly as this is what I wanted to change and cut of the long barrel leaving a
very short piece at the base. I then stuck this to the “magazine” bit, but upside down, I then drilled and pinned a piece from the Roof
Fittings pack. To this I added a length of brass tubing to give me a hollow barrel length.
If and when the Providers arrive they will be fitted to the cargo area, hopefully, then the vehicles will be painted. The turrets are all ready.
The aerials were all made using the plastic sleeving from some BT wire and 18lb Fishing Line (handy having another hobby like that…).
