One name the Ontos (after an obscure Terran reference) mounted fixed banks of hypersonic missile launchers instead of the turret laser. This was found to be a poor tank destroyer as the penetration was in fact less than the laser and the restricted forward arc didn't help tactically but - with its prodigious rate of fire - was welcomed by the infantry as an assault support tank when attacking bunkers and other fixed positions. These were issued experimentally to units on a one per detachment basis. The Shaman hull was also used for to other vehicles. The first was an MLRS. The Legion 1 was, in fact, the first incarnation of an MLRS system on a Mitsusaki hulls - the Legion 2 on the Sohei hull being the second, larger attempt, but the Legion 1 was moderately successful. They were not as well armoured as the Legion 2, being based on a lighter hull, but often found themselves in the front line operating along side their more heavily defended cousins. The Legion 1 carried a smaller missile load but, like the Legion 2, it was mounted in a turret box above the hull.
